Good Company

We had visitors staying over the last two weekends. First to visit was my brother who was back with his family and my sis with her family. They spent 2-3 nights here over Christmas and we had good time together. Over the New Year, Brother T & family, the Apostle came over with his GF and nephew... was a good time albeit tiring for us. After every visit we have to do lots of cleaning but it is well worth it as good company is hard to come by. We had durians at the farm, picked mangosteens, played at the stream, did fishing, played with the dogs, lots of good food and fellowship. Time spent interacting with one another is precious and helps to break the monotony of living here in the farm. With the school holidays over, we would be back to ‘normal’ pace again. I’ll be busy with maintaining the land and some other projects while my wife would be busy with her business. Time will pass and by the grace of God we hope to be a blessing to others while we are passing through this earth.

We experienced sadness and disbelief over the massive loss of human lives and vast trail of destruction left by the giant waves caused by the earthquake in our part of the world. There are no reasons needed, no answers to the many questions, we are created beings, frail and at the mercy of the elements beyond our control. I personally do not understand it but it reminds me that my time here is too short so I will choose to be happy and contented with what I can grasp and experience while discarding the unpleasant and negative experiences that comes my way. Often we have the propensity to allow the negative experience shape and dictate our responses and outlook in life, it is difficult to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel when all that surrounds us look dark, damp and moldy. It will never be easy, to be like Jesus is indeed no easy task, it requires active thinking, deliberate action and a good measure of empowerment from the Holy Spirit. It means total control and submission of our personal will, crushing our natural love for everything not godly and adopting a radical way of life and mindset. I am glad that Jesus walked all the way and completed his task. If He chose to pay attention to the incessant cries of the masses demanding His crucification, the very same people that he healed, taught and who welcomed him when he entered Jerusalem…. I am pretty sure he will throw in his towel and call it a day. If I was taking that walk I would certainly quit against such a backdrop... would you? We need to focus on the cross. A new year ahead and we are no closer to Jesus than when we first started. God help us all…
