Thought I ought to share a word of wisdom from a friend of mine.. He said that everyone should extend a little bit of grace and mercy to one another. That would go a long way is helping us to be less critical and a bit more Christ-like. After all, he did choose to look at what we can become rather than what we are.
A lot of us wish that the other person would change for the better, the truth is, it is near impossible to change him or her especially if they are past adolescence. The best way to institute change is by looking in the mirror and changing the person we see, often I find it difficult to change for the better even though I know I should.. there's where God's grace and mercies comes in.. helping me to change as I let his truth set me free. As we trot along in this journey, we will light up those around us and really be the salt of the world. Don't get me wrong, by asking one to look inward and change oneself I do not advocate keeping quiet about the ills around us. Keeping quiet while the world comes crashing through is definitely not what being the light of the world is all about. Complaining and whining and yet remaining passive is certainly not the calling which we have received.
It is sad but not many extol the virtues of a man of integrity, many would stand in admiration and adoration at those who are rich and famous. We speak of how successful this or that man is but very seldom do we extend the same praises to those who are kind, caring, loving, honest, sincere... etc. Our kids hears and sees how we admire those who have and how we ignore those who have nots... it's no wonder how one generation to the next is getting more materialistic and cold towards one another.
We can blame the media, the government of the day, our parents and Oh Yes! the favourite.. Blame the west! Just when would we look into the mirror and start there? God have mercy on us as we live our lives hap hazardly... He is able and willing to keep you from falling and present you faultless before the presense of his glory... are you willing?
