Bought a new Sony DCR-TRV950 camcorder last week and I must say I am pleased with the purchase... Had been thinking about it for a long time before finally taking the plunge, a deep plunge but for those who knows me, well, this is me.. buy the best you can afford, this had been my policy since forever.. problem is sometimes I think I can afford it when in actual fact I can't, so in moments like these, when I am uncertain, I put myself through a cooling off period. When it rains and I am feeling down, the cooling period is real SHORT! Still human lah.
Went to SWP today to look through the accessories for the camcorder and found them to be really expensive.. guess that's how the big corporations rip us off.. imagine paying RM200 for a cable? Kind of reminds me of how colour printers are practically given away but the ink refills cost a hand or maybe a foot for some of us. I figured if I am serious about preserving visual records of the life around me, I would be severely handicapped without the extra flood lights, batteries, tapes and lense filters. Anyway, I subjected myself to the same routine and well, walked away... this purchase can wait till another day. Meanwhile, I am looking forward to keeping records of family gatherings, trips and well.. life. It may not mean much now but our future generations will treasure these records.. just like how precious those black and white pictures that my eldest cousin took of us when we were kids are to us. Looking through old pictures always brings back that special feeling, good and bad times, happy and sad moments, they all come back, reinforcing the fact that God has keep us safe and sound. A little bit like the memorial stones of old...
Traffic in KL was pretty bad today as many of our muslim friends took time off to do shopping in anticipation of Hari Raya. This is good since more people are spacing out their shopping to avoid the usual last minute rush. The lunch hour rain made the traffic worse and it was practically a crawl on the roads. Thank God the rain only lasted for 1-2 hours. The public transport system in the city is a long way off if we are serious about achieving vision city of the future. For one, the buses do not stop at the designated stops, everyone was drenched to the bone on alighting from the buses. Besides that the wretched looking bus-stop is too tiny and not well designed to shield those needing shade. Mind you this happened right across the street from Times Square, a bad joke for us KLites... Big, Gigantic, Tall building right in the heart of the shopping district but the basic amenities are either missing or neglected.
IMHO there is too little focus on people whenever a development idea is proposed and implemented. Money seems to be the prime motivating factor for everything and the poor population have to put up with so much of nonsense, it is really amazing how much people can tolerate here in Malaysia, equally logic defying is how much those in power take the citizens for granted considering who put them there in the first place. As always, I hope and pray that God will change the hearts of the people and the leaders as well. We want a more caring society.. let's start by caring for one another... Good night!
