Notice the countless banners declaring selamat this and selamat that hanging around town lately. On top of that we have selamat this and selamat that on the newspapers. Wonder who paid for these or rather who would be paying for them in future. Misplaced priorities. That's what I would call them. Spending money recklessly on non-essential stuff when resources could be put to better use for the people. As I drive through the streets in the city, I have this feeling that too many people are either really into idol worshipping or they are making big bucks from these deals. Come on, if there is excess budget, we need more meaningful ad campaigns that would improve life for the people not this buttering stuff. The leaders of the country are paid for doing their jobs, they have lots of 'perks' too, it is not like they are doing it for free...
It really gets on my nerves to see how the country is suffering from so many pressing issues, issues that would affect the way we live our lives and our future and yet the focus of ministers are on all these meaningless stuff. If at all the endless appreciation should continue, let the people do it on their own accord.
Throughout the city we have banners, signboards and what nots' proclaiming OIC X, Selamat This and Selamat That, Vision City lah and even some leftovers of NAM. In the rural areas, we have signboards proclaiming this project or that project is by this responsible government... all these are unnecessary, the people have eyes, ears and brains to help them discern what fantastic representatives they have elected into office.
Sigh! What a way to start my day on this beautiful morning... better go. More positive expressions this evening. BTW, Selamat This to you and Selamat That too...
