We Need To Respond

was thinking about the predicaments we are in currently. a lot of it is pretty frustrating and in discussions with friend and family, many times the final conclusion has always been to leave the country and migrate. Some pointed out that while one may be treated as second class in the new place as well but at least one does not have to contend with the load of rubbish that goes on here. all these sounds logical and fine except for one minor problem.

why are we running? why must i run from my birthplace? can we think of a better response? my main contention is this. if we, the ones who are 'aware' and who has the ability and means to speak chooses to remain silent then who will stand for those who are unable to? the values we hold are universal and does apply to all race and creed. as someone who is still struggling to maintain a decent lifestyle, i too am constantly under pressure to save more for that rainy day, for some of us this may be the sole pre-occupation of our conscious part of life, why we even dream and have nightmares over this in our sleep. whatever the case be i believe that we are called to give an appropriate response to life and the problems that comes with it.

we have no choice but to speak, speak to as many people as possible and bring this need for change in our land to all whom we will meet. i believe God will judge us in this matters too on that day, there is really no line dividing the spiritual and the so called secular matters, if there is any, it is purely man made. our spiritual walk must be relevant and reflect all aspects of our daily living. often i feel helpless and resort to short burst of frustration driven rants, nevertheless it is the purest form of human response to the issues that overwhelms him. i am now learning to direct some of these to the one i pray to. i believe that once i have tried my best in whatever limit ways to effect change and still hit the wall, then it is time to bring my petitions to God.

prayer changes things but nothing much is changing as the people called to pray refuses to do so. i call upon those who are called to stand in the gap to pray, pray as never before, pray that God will bring about change, change in the hearts of man, starting with that of your own. the change have to start with us, can we see beyond what is before our eyes? i believe wholeheartedly that the change will have to begin in us first, that change will bring about a renewed vision and purpose in our lives.

i am perplexed over this state of affair in our country first and foremost but the seemingly lack of response from those are the salt and light of the world is bringing a chill to my heart. i offer no answers, the burden is heavy as i have to grapple with so many other issues at hand. God has to light the light, give taste to the salt, i call upon all to go on knees. change shall surely come when we turn to God in prayer. God will guide and lead us to respond to all that is afflicting us in this land.

"The world is sleeping in the dark
That the church just can't fight
'Cause it's asleep in the light.
How can you be so dead
When you've been so well fed?
Jesus rose from the grave
And you - you can't even get out of bed."
