Furry my golden decided to have a toad for supper, was a good thing my wife managed to get her to spit it out, was a sight to behold two feet of the toad dangling out of her mouth. Needless to say Furry’s mouth was foaming after that. Had to wash her mouth to remove whatever defense chemical employed by our dear toad to evade being a meal. That’s part of life in the farm. Furry is recovering from her bout of a chicken pox-like virus. Thank God! God is merciful, was fearing the worst when the vet told me that the prognosis isn’t good.
My daily routine is pretty much the same since I moved here. Start the morning with tending to the plants, trees… watering them and digging holes for new plants. After the plants session, I normally sit next to the pond observing the fishes as I feed them. The ‘snake-heads’ are growing fast and their numbers are increasing while the numbers of tilapias seems to be getting less. Guess there are many predators around, king fishers, snake head, lizards, eagles, … three quarters of the pond is still covered with weeds and plants, I left them there for the small fishes to breed and hide. And so after finishing at the pond, I would proceed with feeding the dogs. We have a total of 8 dogs now, really wonder how we could managed but so far so good, leave us both tired and physically drained at the end of the day. A good thing considering the kind of life we used to live. 2 new edition are Jack Russell Terriers, both 2 month old females, we named them Cookie and Candy.
Went out to the pasar minggu just yesterday to get our groceries and lunch, bought a copy of The Star for Sunday reading. Must say that it is better not to read it as you would get pretty depress reading about the state of affairs in this country and of the rest of the world. It is crazy, the things that people do, sad part is with the new government, after winning with a huge majority, change still eludes us. It is business as usual for many. We who are called must pray for the country and the people. Otherwise, it is better to have a toad for supper….
I think it wise to write less about the bad and sad, instead I would write of my life here at the farm, I guess you guys have your daily dose of ‘The Star’ so you may appreciate some alternative news from me. My cousin whom I took mum to visit the other day decided to pop by yesterday and well, he had a short but good time here, he came with his daughter, son and daughter in law. We had some small talk and I must say it is good to have people around… I miss my weekly gatherings with my dad, mum, sisters and their families. Well, once all is running here, we should be able to cope with more visitors.
Good night!
