The smoke returns. Aye! I kid thee not, the smell of burnt fuel hangs in the air and visibility is reduced. Sort of an annual affair for us here in Malaysia. They say the hot weather will prevail for another month or so, I say the weather pattern is changing and soon we would be unable to predict the changes much less to work round the tested and tried seasons. The newspapers reported that there are many forest fires being fought and that many people are compounding the problem by conducting open burning, so what’s new? Did no physical work the last few days save for the daily watering of the thirsty plants drying from the scorching sun. The sun scorched ground is brown and fallen leaves are aplenty. Thank God in time the irrigation system will be up and we can somehow bring some form of relief to the cracked, sun baked soil. The prophet came over last night with his better half and we had dinner together, he decided to stay the night before proceeding to visit his mum who has had a surgery. I managed to catch two ‘snake heads’ with my rod and line yesterday evening for him to take back. These fishes have medicinal values when made into soup along with some Chinese herbs and are good for those who have had surgeries. Beyond my prayers, I have no other contribution than these humble fishes. We had a good dinner and time together, his home is almost ready and he should be able to move in at the end of next month. By then we can start on the irrigation project! Praise the Lord!
The temperature is really hot, even in the mornings we don’t get any cold water from the taps, the water is warm and there’s absolutely no chance of getting a cold shower to cool ourselves. If it is hot here amongst the trees can you imagine how bad it is in the cities where air conditioning is the order of the day? I think that the changing weather is a result of the years of abuse we have inflicted on nature. It is something man will never fully understand and appreciate with his insatiable greed, self centered motivations and puny minds. There is not much hope for the future in this cursed earth but the promises of new worlds and the Lordship of Jesus Christ does gives me strength to continue my walk in Christ. Please remember us in your prayers that we may draw near to Jesus and become more like him.
