Good to be back home after 5 nights away in a foreign land. My wife managed to get some of the stuff she needed for business while I get to put on some weight from zero physical exertion and lots of good food. The temptation to shop was dispel by the poor buying power of the ringgit. Yep! The ringgit has lost much of its’ value so much so what used to be considered cheap is now pretty expensive. Walking in the shopping malls, I get the feeling that I am living on the wrong planet, everything in the malls are pricey and simply out of my budget. Sad huh? Surprise, I don’t feel such, on the contrary this is good as it helps me to turn away from buying more stuff which I don’t really need, God is certainly helping me to take another small step towards a more frugal lifestyle. It is also amazing to note how much of junk we humans create and crave for, much of it from non-renewable, finite resources. Guess the fuel cost will continue to go up and up as the ‘smart ones’ continue to exploit what is left of the fossilized fuel to enrich themselves. With all the money accumulated, the greed just continues to perpetuate from one generation to the next till one day all that is left is money more money. By then, maybe we could serve money on our plates for supper and go to bed with a full belly filled with paper… oops! Plastic these days.
Jesus has set us free to set the captives free, heal the broken-hearted, make the blinded see. One problem though, most of us are not really free… we remain captive, hearts hardened and tragically totally blind. We are powerless; our territories remain under the control of the enemy. I believe that the physical is just a representation of the spiritual. I believe Jesus came to liberate our spirit, our soul and eventually on that glorious day, our bodies too, from the corruptible to the new glorified model. How wonderful and marvelous! May God have mercy on us… wake us all up before we face judgment day.
