It’s raining again. A hot morning and afternoon and toward the evenings the dark clouds appears from the horizon and presto! Living water from the skies above.
Last night we had a mega storm, I was drenched from head to toes as I tried to open the main gate manually. The persistent bolts of lightning caused the ELCB to trip, placing the entire property powerless, situation made worse as I had just endured a grueling two and a half hour drive back from the city. It was pouring all the way and I had to drive slow and carefully. Anyway, I was able to open the gate and drive my vehicle in despite of the fact that the place is in total darkness in the absence of electricity supply. A flick of the switch and the house is again a beacon in the dark night.
Anyway, it is raining again now and the best thing I can think of doing is to write. Not much of updates on our progress here but I would like to share with you regarding how often we forget that God has completed his work at the cross of Calvary. Jesus declared that it is finished, he had a mission and he completed it. Many of us had also received our marching orders; our mission was to walk as Christ did, preaching to the ends of the world, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand! A simple task really if we were to pick up our crosses but look around us… I mean how many so called ‘Christians’ do you see committed to the assigned task? Sad but most of us are still enjoying the misunderstood ‘grace’ to the max, fooling around with many, many personal battles that has absolutely nothing to do the calling which we had received.
These battles occupy most of our conscious moments causing us to lose sight of our mission, as in a race we seem to be walking and running and still stuck at the same hurdle, never an inch forward to the next hurdle let alone reaching for the finishing line. Alas! We are victims of our own making. Never wanting to place ourselves on the altar of sacrifice, we rant, pray for this and that but our prayers remain misdirected, contents of which really matters very little to God’s heart and will. Battles are fought at all corners of the spiritual realm as the forces of darkness muster all its strength and might to drag as many souls as possible into eternal hell in a last ditch effort to inflict maximum damage knowing that their time is almost up. While the fire rages on, we are oblivious to the raging battle, lethargic, we remain committed to the forms, shrouded in clever inpersonation of a pious believer, we are the modern Pharisees, we are certainly more concern with how people perceive us, looks means the world, what we will wear tomorrow, where to have lunch, who has hurt us with their words, where to have our next vacation, the colour of our hair, our nails, our teeth, our clothes…. We are the bystanders of war, fully armed but not fighting, swords down the enemy ignores us as we are already prisoners of our own making. Will we wake up on time? Lord by your mercies wake us up, give us oil in our lamps….
