Daisy the queen became a proud mother of 6 puppies last night. 3 boys and 3 girls, perfect mix and balance! We were expecting her to whelp last week as she showed all the obvious signs but she decided not to. Heh! guess she was shy and wanted the privacy as we had visitors over the weekend. Yee Jeh, Jinh, Sam Jeh and family came for two nights and we all had such a great time. Daisy and Ginger got the most attention due to obvious reasons; Ginger is super cute while Daisy is carrying pups. Ginger took her first swim and impressed everyone, she took a natural liking for the water, jumping into the pond without hesitation, and she even leaped from the boat when we took her for a ride. We had lots of durians, drank lots of tea and well, spent some unhurried time together.
Back to Daisy, I drove my dearest wife to the city yesterday and rushed back to the farm; found that the ELCB has cut off the power supply to the house. After attending to all the necessary, I called out for Daisy but she did not respond, walking closer I heard the little ones singing, there were five of them, the six appeared after I called my wife with the good news. Daisy is a natural mummy, refusing to leave her young ones, attending to them at all times. I did not get to play mid-wife, all I did was to apply some disinfectant, tie up the cords properly, cleaned up the new mummy. Daisy did all the delivery, cleaning up her pups on her own. Clever girl right?
Did not get to sleep much as I had to monitor all of them constantly so I am pretty 'poofed' now. Guess all the building work here at the farm would have to take a back seat at least till all is stable and fine.
On a sad note, my comrade here at the farm lost his beloved mummy to cancer last week... no words can describe the loss, or alleviate the pain. She was a gentle and meek lady, heaven is a better place with her there and we are glad that one day we shall all be together again. A reminder that life on earth is indeed short... Jim, we all feel the lost though we can never fathom your pain of missing her, the tears will end with time and sweet memories of your sweet mum shall be with you forever. May you find comfort in knowing that that the Lord Jesus is by her side, walking with her, talking and listening to her…
