Reproduction

My Tai Koh wrote the following recently and I am reproducing it for you. Two of my sisters got robbed within a short period of two weeks! One with weapons and exactly like a home invation and the other can even climbed down from the balcony like Spiderman and alas survived! Thank God for his blessing that both their families and children are all unharmed and this is all we want and matters. Material things can be acquired again but not lives. What is wrong with our country that we grew up with ? I remembered during our childhood days we can walk the streets with no fear. We can't do that anymore. Don't go to Petaling street or Sungai Wang because there are many pickpockets. Don't wear any jewery or carry hand bags if you walk on the street.etc etc. We are heading towards what kind of society? Yes , our country had grew and progressed over the years but in a different perspective.Super highway, big big complexes,cafe etc etc and;development are everywhere. Congestion, polution, you name it. Undeniably a lot of people that got on the right boat got filthy rich! Driving expensive cars and live in big bungalows. Spend lots of time on the weekends in the shopping mall, buying expensive cell phones, flashy clothings, eat out in expensive restaurants. It really make me feel poor when I am home! People talks about money and money seem to be the most interesting topic to discuss these days! Isn't it a boring topic? I rather talk about fishes , gardening and how to cook up a good meal! Honestly there is very little quality of life left. To me having a steamed Patin , tofu and fun su yap with my bro in a simple restaurant in Raub, picking and eating durian on the farm is a much more interesting experience for me. There is a big expense if the balance is not strike between the rich and the poor . Needles to say the poor will get poorer and the rich will get even richer.Poor people are deprived of a lot of things.So here you go, crime comes along. robbery, stealing ,scam and swindling that eventually lead to murder etc.etc. It strikes my mind that I virtually did not see any Police petroling the streets when I was home for three weeks! Where were them? Contrally we saw some Police stopping traffic on our way to brother's farm. To promote highway safety or other courses ? puzzle. To promote education and healthy social activity at all walks of life are very important to cut down the crime rate. Is our country doing anything in these areas? So what,the police go out there ,shot and killed a few robbers and made headline? It is not going to stop and scare them away. They have to get down to the roots of the evil. Morale and regards of life virtually are going to be extinct in many peoples mind! I read The Chinapress everyday on the net. Today's headline 5 robbers were shot dead by police after they robbed a goldsmith store in P.J. A couple of weeks ago, a young couple was robbed girl friend raped and killed when they were courting beside a pond! These kind of news appears too often and is beginning to sounds normal in the media! Mom read the paper most of the time in the morning with me . What you hear from her is YAN WONG this so and so is killed YAN WONG this so and so is RAPED. You can see that these comments comes from the true and kind heartedness of our beloved mom. This is really sad and dissapointing . Maybe there is still some little pockets of land in this great country of ours that we can still find some peace, decency and sanity.Point To Ponder.
