Me Am Sweet!

The prophet came over on Monday to do some painting, his home is 90% ready. The painting is taking longer than usual as the walls are damp from the high humidity. The walls are wet with droplets of water, we could only start painting at about 11am when the sun is hot, we get to stop at 5pm since it would start raining by then, rainy days are here and everyday we get showers.

Humidity here is something we had never thought about, till we experience mold and fungus proliferating in unlikely places. Next thing you know we had to invest in a electronic dehumidifier after the ‘thirsty hippo’ gave up on us. The little hippo just couldn’t cope and we would have to change it every few days, at almost RM7 each and with the rooms we have, it would cost us a lot just to keep moisture to bare minimum. So we had no choice but to get an electronic one, it cost us a fair bit but at least it works. I check the internet just the other day and realize how cheap the unit was overseas. It is appalling but our ringgit has lost much of its’ value. The cost of living here in Malaysia is going up and up… I wonder how we’re going to keep up. Well, I hope the prophet moves here soon, we can then start our project proper and have some form of income, right now we are like burning fuel without getting anywhere.

Did some fishing this evening as it was raining and I couldn’t do anything else, Yep! Fishing in my yellow colour poncho, needless to say I did get wet from the strong winds. Caught a few red tilapias, two ‘snake head’ haruan and  one single black tilapia. Placed all the fishes in a new fish net I bought today, the kind that you could leave it in the water with the fishes in it. Beats keeping fishes I caught in the pail, they always try to jump out and some fishes managed to escape by sheer will power. Kept them alive in the net so that I could decide which I want to keep and which gets to be set free. Wife came back tired from KL and she was too tired to do the selection so I released all of the tilapias save for one, kept the two snake heads just in case we want to prepare some soup.

A bee mistook me for a flower and I got stung while doing painting, it’s been a long time since I last got stung so it was a ‘good’ reminder of how painful a bee sting is. I must be as sweet as the bee thinks I am sweet nectar. A piece of advice for all intending to visit the farm or the jungle, never wear yellow top and brown pants, might be good to stick to light blue. Yellow seems to attract insects and I am sure you don’t want insects all over you. That’s all for now, take care!

One other thing, please ignore the posting date, I have no internet access here at the farm so I only get to update by email when I am in town. I write here whenever I can but could only send them once a week, so the posting dates does not reflect the time of writing.
