CNY

Had visitors over today. Two brothers took a long drive from KL with their families to visit us and to spend some time here. We had lunch together, wife prepared some food and along with the food stuff brought by them, it was a big meal by my standards. It is great to have friends come and spend their time here in our humble home. God is good! He allows us the opportunity to fellowship together. JT left in the afternoon while YK left after a late dinner. They are a blessing sent by God.

This CNY is pretty low key for us, it seems to me that as we grow older, CNY is beginning to lose it’s luster... I mean CNY isn’t as exciting as it used to be. I remembered in the past when we used to have a big reunion dinner with loads of people joining in. We had a huge family back then, aunts, cousins, uncles… those were the days, when grandma was still around. Lots of ang pows for us kids. Fast forward to the present, we do not receive as many ang pows, these days a 10 ringgit ang pow doesn’t seems as much as when we used to receive a RM1.10 ang pow, a 2 ringgit ang pow was considered generous and anything above that is a luxury, goes to show how much the ringgit has shrunk, we had reunion dinner with lots of food but just five of us. Guess this is a problem with the shrinking family size. I guess in another 20-30 years time reunion dinner won’t be much of a reunion as it might be a 3-4 person affair. As the days goes by I am missing my brothers and sisters more and more. I may be feeling a bit nostalgic tonight but I am beginning to appreciate the times we have had together more and more. When we were younger we used to fight a lot, did our own thing and rarely interact but nowadays we enjoy talking and laughing together… funny huh? Anyway, we spent the first two days of CNY shuttling between my in laws’ place and my parents’ place, thank God its’ just 10 minutes drive apart, we managed to spend a bit of time with both sides. We left the dogs with loads of water for more than 30hrs and when we got back, all the dogs were super happy to see us. Needless to say we were also super happy to see that they are alright. Next week my wife will be back to work and the usual stress and heartaches will begin again, we are still committing this one area to the Lord that He will remove the ‘thorns’ that afflict us. Please remember us in your prayers. May we bring blessings to those we interact with and reflect the glory of Jesus. Tonight and God bless…
