Some things don't change...

A cool morning greeted me as I got out of bed. The prophet left
yesterday on his business and would only be back come sunday so I am
free to do whatever I want. My two goldens were waiting by the door and
literally all over me when I went out. After the morning chores of
laundry, sweeping and washing I went out to do some 'maintenance work',
cleaning the brush cutter and replacing the grease before proceeding to
cut the grass around the fish pond. It has been a while since I last did
it, the area next to the embankment... guess these are the areas that I
fear most... everytime I spend time in these areas I remember Furry
standing there waiting for me to play with her. True enough as I cut the
area at the corner of the pond my feelings got the better of me and I
wept. They say that in time the pain will go away and the lovely
memories stay but for me the pain is as April 10th 2005, especially when
I am all alone here. Every step I take along the path where we used to
roam together. I had left some of these areas unkept and the undergrowth
was so thick that the brush cutter got stuck most of the time. It is not
a deliberate thing but I guess it pains me to walk these areas where
memories lingers. Though I have a total of 10 dogs now, a part of me
died on the 10th April.
Evenings was spent doing pretty much the same till it was too dark to
work. The skies are dark, cloudy and a reflection of my state of mine.
Promised rains did not come as expected but slight drizzles are the
order of day.
On a brighter not Gordon took his first swim yesterday evening trying to
retrieve his favourite outdoor food, rotten durians. He displayed no
fear of the water and approached the waters as if he had been swimming
all his life. Anyway, the water in the pond seems a tad too murky so I
limited his forays to just a few trips out and brought back inside.
Daisy never tried the waters yet so one day I would have to carry her
into the pond. Reggie is adapting well.. Oh! btw reggie is the latest
beagle we received from a friend. He is one of a kind, totally different
from Kimi, the fat beagle.
The chicken barn is almost finished except for the walls, of which the
timber for it is due to come in this monday. We will then paint and
secure it up and put on the roof. We should complete the first next week
before starting on the second. There is so much to do and so little time
to do them all. Two pairs of hands just isn't enough... I look eagerly
for tomorrow when my sweet wife would be back from her work in the city.
It is too quiet here without her.
