Hot Chicks

Hi all! Sorry for not writing as often these days. Had been pretty busy lately now that so many hot chicks are under our care... He! The dogs are also on a different diet, no more dog biscuits as I believe nothing beats fresh food. Mornings they get brown rice with eggs while for dinner they get either lamb or beef or chicken with brown rice, olive oil and garlic. All the dogs look healthy and active. Will be a month from now before I can assess and report on how good this diet is, for me it basically means more work.
As for the chicks, we fitted new infrared heat lamps with dimmer controls for them after one very cold morning which resulted in some of the chicks succumbing to cold. It is sad to lose chicks but I guess with time we will do better. As with all living things, the risk is real. We may lose not just our pets but even our closest friends and dearest family so it is wise to savor every moment we have together and live life and love people.
Work is in earnest here as we embark on our next barn, it is going to be much bigger than our first two as we discovered that a bigger one is more practical and easier to maintain. With two pairs of hands, we are again trying our utmost best to put it up in record time. Went to the timber supplier this afternoon to select some timber and they should be sending the supplies in tomorrow. After this, we would most probably be laying the irrigation pipes. I am looking forward to the construction of the green house. It will be dual function, for chickens to graze and also for planting of greens. So that's life here at our humble place. Pretty tired so I'll end here. Good night! Sleep well...
